Length of Service: 10 Years
On Lok PACE Fremont and Union City Centers
How did you come to work at On Lok: Well, I retired, but things happened and I needed to supplement my income. I applied to be a driver for On Lok. Yep, that stuck. I'm still here driving for On Lok.
What do you like most about your job: I spent most of my original career chasing the all-mighty dollar for my corporate masters. Here, at On Lok, I feel like I'm contributing to something bigger and more meaningful.
I like: The first two hours when I wake up in the morning. Everyone except the cats are asleep. The world is all mine for two hours!
I know: Actually, the more I learn, the less I truly "know".
I could not do without: The woman I married.
In my free time: Free time? What's that?
My superpower is: Patience. Persistence. (Don't tell anyone, but I have x-ray vision too).

February 24 marks an exciting milestone for On Lok as we officially open our new On Lok PACE centers in Union City and South San Jose, culminating a significant financial and strategic investment in communities where many older adults face unmet care needs.
These new centers represent more than brick and mortar. They reflect a long-term commitment to expanding access to integrated, community-based care in southern Alameda and Santa Clara counties. In both of these regions, there is a growing senior population and an increasing demand for coordinated medical, social, and supportive services.
Through thoughtful capital investment, operational planning, and regulatory readiness, these sites are designed to expand our capacity to serve more participants while maintaining the high standards of care that define the PACE model. Each center includes fully equipped exam rooms, rehabilitation and therapy spaces, welcoming day health areas, and dedicated workspaces to support interdisciplinary care teams.
Investments in this expansion allow On Lok to:
Serve more older adults who wish to remain safely in their homes
Support family caregivers seeking comprehensive, coordinated care options
Strengthen our presence in communities where awareness of PACE continues to grow
As we open our doors, we also invite our staff and the broader community to see the impact firsthand.
We are offering guided tours every weekday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Staff are encouraged to visit, refer family and friends, or invite community partners who may benefit from learning more about On Lok PACE. Seeing the centers in person is the best way to understand how this investment translates into care, connection, and dignity for older adults.
Opening new centers is both a celebration and a responsibility. It represents our continued commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Bay Area seniors and to ensuring more seniors can age with dignity in their homes, if that is what they choose. You can find the new centers at:
On Lok PACE Union City Center: 2600 Central Avenue, Union City, CA 94587Â
On Lok PACE South San Jose Center: 151 Martinvale Lane, San Jose, CA 95119Â
For questions regarding the tours, please reach out to On Lok's Senior Manager of Community Engagement, Charlene Elefante.

On Lok’s Change Management Team will wrap up the roadshows by mid-March, and we thank everyone who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and shared feedback. As we continue outlining what Oracle and ADP will look like and how they will change the way we work, your input remains invaluable and continues to shape our progress together.

This Lunar New Year brings us the Year of the Fire Horse, an event that only happens once every 60 years and feels especially appropriate for On Lok. Long before our official founding in 1971, the idea that seniors should be served with community, dignity, and culturally competent care was already taking shape. As we approach our 55th anniversary this Fall, those same values continue to guide our innovation and growth.
When I look at where we are now, I feel that energy deeply. Your work over the last several years has positioned us for this moment by strengthening our foundation, expanding our reach, and preparing us to diversify our services.
Together, we’ll harness that momentum, opening the doors at On Lok PACE Union City and South San Jose centers for full operations, so we can thoughtfully, sustainably, and urgently grow census. We’ll also continue working deep into the summer to launch our Mission Possible implementation of Oracle and ADP.
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, I wish you and your loved ones a Happy Lunar New Year filled with good health, prosperity, and success.
