On June 11, community leaders, elected officials, Board members, donors, partners, and staff gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the On Lok PACE Union City Center, marking a major milestone in our mission to expand access to high-quality, community-based care for older adults in Alameda County and beyond.
This event was both a celebration and a reflection of years of planning, collaboration, and dedication by hundreds of On Lok employees who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.
Guests were welcomed by On Lok CEO Grace Li, members of the Board of Directors, and local dignitaries, including Vice Mayor Jaime Patiño, who represents District 2 in Union City. Their presence reflected the strong partnerships, community support, and shared commitment that helped make this new center possible.
The Union City PACE Center, which began serving participants earlier this year, extends On Lok's reach into a growing service area and strengthens our ability to support older adults and their families close to home. As the founder of the PACE model, On Lok has spent 55 years helping seniors remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities. The opening of this center represents our continued commitment to meeting the evolving needs of older adults across the Bay Area.
In many ways, this grand opening was On Lok putting a flag in the ground for the future. It signals our long-term commitment to serving Union City and surrounding communities, expanding access to care, and ensuring more seniors can benefit from the comprehensive services that define On Lok PACE.
During tours of the new center, guests had the opportunity to meet team members from across the organization and experience firsthand the collaborative approach that makes PACE unique. Interdisciplinary care teams hosted informational stations throughout the building, sharing their expertise and explaining how nursing, rehabilitation, social work, transportation, nutrition, and participant services work together to support every participant's health and well-being.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing the pride our staff took in showcasing their work. Their passion, professionalism, and commitment to serving older adults left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
A special thank you goes to the many teams who worked behind the scenes to make the event a success. Our Facilities, Community Outreach, Development, Marketing, Government Affairs, Security, and IT teams coordinated countless details, managed logistics, welcomed guests, and ensured the day reflected the significance of this milestone. Their planning and preparation helped create a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
Special recognition goes to Bloom Catering for the outstanding food and hospitality that helped make the celebration even more memorable.
Most importantly, this achievement belongs to the hundreds of On Lok employees who helped make the Union City Center a reality. Opening a new PACE Center requires vision, perseverance, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. From planning and construction to licensing, operations, clinical readiness, participant enrollment, and day-to-day preparation, staff across the organization contributed to this accomplishment.
Because of your dedication, more older adults and families will have access to the care, support, and services they need to live safely and independently in their communities.
As we look ahead, we are excited about the opportunities this new center creates for the communities we serve. The Union City PACE Center represents growth, partnership, and possibility. It stands as a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together around a shared purpose.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone possible and to all who joined us in celebrating the beginning of a new chapter for On Lok in Union City.
